So here’s the “tea” ...
So here’s the “tea” ....
(Which for the older generation like myself apparently that is slang for “gossip” 🤷🏻♀️)
But that’s not the kind of “T” I’m talking about instead I’m talking about Testosterone, specifically in women.
Yep women have and need testosterone too.
It’s a hormone in our bodies that are thought to have important effects on:
Ovarian function, Bone strength, Sexual behavior, including normal libido

So why am I telling you this ?
Well just like men, women’s testosterone levels can decrease and an imbalance of testosterone in the female body can have damaging effects on a woman’s health and sex drive
I just discovered that I’m one of those women and I had no idea.
I never hear women talking about having low testosterone which made me think, do women know the symptoms and to ask their doctor to specifically check for this?
Thanks to my husband pushing me to get it checked, I finally did last month. I had a few symptoms that I thought maybe could be a sign of LowT but this is my everyday norm so it didn’t occur to seek answers.
So last month at my annual doctors appointment I asked if my blood work included checking my hormones and I was told no. I was curious just to know now that I’m 40 if my levels were where they needed to be. With a talk with my doctor she ordered to just have my testosterone level checked to be sure.

A few days later I open my results to see that my number is a 23! That’s pretty low y’all and I had no idea AND I have no idea for how long I’ve been this low and just dealing. She wants my numbers to be between 150-350 so today I followed up to begin hormone therapy with pellets. Today is day 1. I’m not going to feel a difference until about week 4 but I’m so anxious to know how this will change my life and I’ll take you along my journey because maybe you have the symptoms and are living with it not knowing you could do something about it!
